What is an Absa listed beneficiary?

Some institutions, such as SARS, municipalities or department stores, can’t be paid normally because Absa has already added them as beneficiaries. These types of beneficiaries are called ‘Absa listed beneficiaries’.

What makes an Absa listed beneficiary different from a normal beneficiary is that you don’t need their banking details to pay them, you can just select them from a list. However, you will need the account or reference number that you use at this institution before you can make a payment. In most cases, you can find this information on the account or statement you get from them.
