What is PayShap?

• PayShap is the fastest way to send and receive payments! Your payment will clear instantly.
• All you need is a ShapID to receive payments into your bank account. This means that, instead of giving someone your banking details to pay you, all you need to do is give them your ShapID.
• Your ShapID will be your cellphone number.
• For Business Banking users, it can be a number that we generate for you and your cellphone number.
• Your ShapID will be linked to your nominated cheque or transactional savings account.
• If you have registered for PayShap with other participating banks, make sure that you let the person know that they need to select Absa as your bank when they’re paying you using your ShapID.
• To make a payment, you will need your beneficiary’s ShapID.
• PayShap payments are up to R3 000.00.
• Remember, to receive PayShap payments, you will need to register a ShapID.
• PayShap payments are irrevocable and only available to South African ID holders.
