What details do I need before making a new payment?

If you’re paying someone new, make sure you have the following details before you start:

  1. The name of the recipient’s bank.
  2. The branch name or branch code (if they don’t bank with Absa).
  3. Their bank account number.
  4. The type of account they have (if they don’t bank with Absa).

If you’re paying an Absa listed beneficiary for the first time, make sure you have the following details before you start. In most cases, you can find this information on the account or statement you get from the institution.

  1. The name of the institution that you’re paying.
  2. The name of the account holder at the institution.
  3. Your account number or reference number at the institution.
